Benevento 0v1PALERMO                           Brunori 54 Municipal Stadium Ciro Vigorito Serie B Sunday 4th December 2022 There was only the one change from the home loss to Venezia, Damiani replacing Broh in midfield. With both Benevento and Palermo both on 15 points and sitting at the foot of the table a win for either side would be big for confidence and make ground in the league. A long kick from Benevento goalkeeper Paleari with Palermitano La Gumina running onto it, Pigliacelli comes out and clears the ball under pressure. Benevento claimed a penalty but the referee had none of it. Damiani broke from a Benevento corner and passed forward to Di Mariano who's shot was blocked. Damiani was involved once again on the half hour finding space on the edge of the box he managed to pick out Brunori who came near post but that effort went out of play. In the 35th minute Benevento had an effort that wasn't too far away ...

PALERMO 0-1 Venezia Serie B Sunday 27th November 2022 The Rosanero made two changes from the 3-2 loss away to Cosenza, Bettella replacing Marconi at centre back and Sala replacing Devetak at left back. Palermo had the first of the opportunities Sala with a cross into the danger area but Segre couldn't get a good contact on the ball. Venezia's Pohjanpalo had a chance from a deep cross but it found it's way straight into Pigliacelli's hands. Venezia kept trying their luck down Palermo's right and with Mateju preferring to play inside it seemed a better place than any for the Arancioneroverdi . In the 11th minute Broh was too casual at the back and got tackled and the shot goes wide, Broh raising his hands in apology but such mistakes could be easily punished. In the 15th minute Palermo received a free kick on the left Valente took it and it was easily collected by Venezia's goalkeeper Joronen. On the half hour Broh once again played Palermo into trouble playing a...

COVENTRY CITY 1-2 Blackpool EFL Championship 29th October 2022 CBS Arena 18,924 What the fuck!? Where are the strikers? With Godden out injured for what could be 4 months with an ankle injury and Waghorn now nursing an injury to his other hamstring, Tavares is out due to illness and Gyokeres recovering from illness only he and Walker make the bench, Walker only just returning to full training from his ACL injury. This leaves a small squad very short. The prospect of the link up play between Hamer, O'Hare and Palmer was enough to whet my appetite. Early on Blackpool had the best of possession and in the 2nd minute Gary Madine had his first chance firing wide. Wilson with the ball in hand kicked a long ball to O'Hare on the right he plays inside to Allen back to O'Hare but his cross is cut out by Carey. Carey again was involved in the action in the 6th minute playing a through ball to Madine that cuts through the City defence, Ben Wilson made himself big, stayed on his feet a...

It's good to B back!

PALERMO 2-0 Perugia Serie B Renzo Barbera 21,835 This is a dawning of a new era. New owners in City football group, which I only hope will offer the stability we need. Well that stability on new foundations was rocking weeks before the start of the new season, with both Baldini our manager and Castagnini our sporting director offering their resignations despite Mirri's pleas to stay. They both sighted their lack of input into the new project, which is understandable. Baldini wanted to keep the core of the team which were let go against his better judgement. That core should have been kept together and then build upon not out of blind loyalty or sentiment but out of common sense. Why disband a group that created miracles, that was strong and cohesive? Ultimately Baldini was bound to go whether it be before the season, 5 games in or the winter break it was inevitable, it was clear for all to see that he wasn't a CFG man. Baldini has my thanks and my gratitude for making miracles ...

Millwall 3-2 COVENTRY CITY  Saturday 13th August 2022 The Den 13,880 Subs: Wilson, Doyle, Burroughs,  Eccles, Palmer, Walker, Tavares. 8 changes for the Sky Blues to the League Cup against Bristol City. Simon Moore retaking his place in goal, Hyam for Rose, Panzo for Doyle, Bidwell for Adaramola. Sheaf and Hamer in for both Eccles and Palmer who were on the bench, Jamie Allen pushed up behind a front two of Godden and Gyokeres who replace Walker and Tavares. Coventry City started really well scoring in the 2nd minute, a Hamer corner flicked on at the near post by Godden which was met by McFadzean who got in front of his man to get a toe on it to bundle the ball in. 1-0 City. The Sky Blues continued their good start with a good move started by Ben Sheaf who intercepted a pass, he came out strong to beat two passed to Godden on the right back to Sheaf who backheels into Dabo's path to Gyokeres onto Godden who scored but he was sadly ruled offside. The Sky Blues struggled ...

COVENTRY CITY v Bristol City EFL Cup 1st round Wednesday 10th August 2022 Pirelli stadium, Burton 2,680 Subs: Moore, Burroughs, Bidwell, Sheaf, Howley, Hamer, Godden, Gyokeres, Waghorn Mark Robins made eight changes to the starting line up that faced Sunderland last month, Wilson replacing Moore in goal, Dabo starting at right wing back pushing Eccles into midfield in place of Sheaf and Rose in for Hyam. I was hoping to see both Doyle and Adaramola make their Sky Blue debuts and I wasn't disappointed, Doyle on loan from Man City replacing Panzo at left centre back and Adaramola on loan from Crystal Palace replacing Bidwell at left wing back, a fresh but inexperienced partnership on that left hand side of defence. I was also glad to hear both Palmer and Tavares making their first starts for the Sky Blues, Palmer in for Hamer pushing Allen back into midfield and Tavares up front alongside Walker in place of Gyokeres and Godden. With that inexperience on the left of defence I could ...

Sunderland away

Sunderland v COVENTRY CITY Sunday 31st July 2022 Stadium of Light 40,851 When I saw the line up Sunday morning with 3 centre backs I guessed it would be a wing back system with Jake Bidwell on the left and Josh Eccles on the right. I knew it wouldn't really be a wing back system as neither are that way minded. Bidwell getting the nod ahead of the new Irish loanee Tayo Adaramola from Crystal Palace, that was understandable as Tayo hasn't had many pre season minutes and little time in training ahead of the trip to Sunderland. Eccles in the starting line up ahead of Fankaty Dabo, Mark Robins has shown some trust in Eccles in that position. The substitutes Wilson (GK), Doyle, Rose, Dabo, Palmer, Walker and Tavares. Adi Viveash passed on some tactical instruction to Jonathan Panzo during the warm up and he looked a little uncertain playing out from early on. Sunderland had the best of possession early on and Stewart had both Hyam and McFadzean backtracking before his shot was e...
