The soul takeover by City Football Group
As soon as the rumours were heard of the potential takeover of Palermo FC by City Football Group excitement hit for me. The potential investment in my club, a club that has seen great mismanagement and suffered for it by having to rebuild a squad from scratch in a matter of weeks before having to restart in Serie D. But then I dwelt on it and that initial excitement subsided. ‘Would this takeover be selling our soul?’ I decided to do some research into City Football Group and I read about all the clubs they have a stake in New York City FC, Melbourne City, Mumbai City, Sichuan Jiuniu, Yokohama F Marinos, Montevideo City Torque, Girona, Lommel and Troyes. A few of those clubs, those outside of Europe have changed their identity taking on the Sky Blue colours, the round badge and the name City.
